Through hard work and strong leadership, the Members F1rst Slate is making sure that the CED Department is not only thriving but also growing. We are creating opportunities for the future, while safeguarding the jobs we have now. With continued investment in in-house work, we will ensure that more union members benefit from these advancements for many years.

For the first time, we created clear promotional paths for Car Cleaners within the department, offering them the chance to advance their careers without leaving CED.

Instead of outsourcing or buying new locomotives, we are rebuilding them from end to end using in-house forces. This decision doesn’t just create

jobs—it saves them by ensuring that ongoing maintenance and warranty work stays with our members and doesn’t get handed off to outside vendors.

We’ve successfully installed security cameras in every subway car with 100% in-house labor, keeping the work within our union and protecting both jobs and safety.

The transition from paper to digital advertising in subway cars was completed entirely by in-house forces, once again proving our expertise and commitment to keeping critical tasks within the CED.
